I agree wholeheartedly. They should make their position absolutely clear, by publicly condemning the atrocious, murdering of innocent people, by these evil, cowardly terrorists.
'sonfai81's', pathetic offering of being, "quite open about it", is not the same as condemning it, is it? And, 'lystrayel'. How can you still call them, "brethren", when they're quite prepared to murder their own Brothers, Sisters, Mothers and Fathers, so indiscriminately, as well as, sometimes, purposely?
I too am very concerned at what appears to be the, "blind eye turning", of the, supposedly 'good', Muslims!!

The nature of terrorism is to terrorise, which is a form of intimidation, designed to silence those who disagree. The lack of condemnation you speak of (there is quite a lot, however) could be because those who stand up in public, or march in public to protest, could themselves become targets for the terrorists. So if there does not seem to be a lot of protest it could be because people are frightened to do that.
Another reason is that public marches in particular can be hijacked by those with a different agenda, to foment more trouble. The newspapers in Britain are actually one of the best democratic means of protesting, with journalists' articles, editorial comments, and readers' letters. Some high ranking muslims can be found protesting there. But if any secretly back the hardliners, you and I will never know, even if they say one thing publicly but believe the opposite.

Because even the "peaceful" Muslims that do not commit acts of terrorism sympophise with the terrorist, just read Hope's answer says it in a nutshell, and they use the "It wasn't me defence" to end all arguments.
I suppose innocents people getting blown up after bending over backwards to accomadate you is "no problem".
To the radicalist below- We DID protest against the IRA's attack and they always had figureheads, willing to discuss there conditions and motivation. Yes they were cowardly, in ways but at least they were a united cause and have dissarmed uniformly under their own power. Note they were a political group not a religion. And many protests were held by the people who had family inside it even, it took a long time but they fixed it internally.
I can take a step back and see my government is not always in the right, but people think like that and will still kill them, you attack. Can you take a step back and look at who you hurt?

You have struck a chord on this one ... the question surfaces than goes away ... why the mainstream moderate muslim leaders do not speak out against the terrorism is a mystery ..they say they do but it is a whisper in the night ... I really believe they are afraid of retaliation from the insane hardliners ... and I too think they privately they want to see more terror and hope it will force more of their adgendas on the countries of the world ...
The governments of the civilized world ... non muslim ... need to approach the muslim leaders and get a vote ...you are either with us or against us ... and if it it comes out they are gainst living peacefully than there is only one answer .... go home to your place of origin and foment hate there because you are no longer welcome here ... why are they here in the first place ... because it is better than where they came from ... but they are just making there new home as bad as the one they left by practicing extreme islam ...

It is very hard to understand why people can not get it. Not all Muslims are terrorists but almost all support terrorism and those that do not are not against it. Muslims do not speak out against terrorism because they support it and the agenda of establishing Sharia law throughout the world. As the Quran says all must submit to Islam.
The only reasonable way to have peace with Muslims is to isolate them and not allow them to associate with civilized society. The only other way is to appease them by submitting to their religion. Of course that would not bring peace either as they hate each other almost as much as they hate Westerners, Christians and Jews.

How many times you protested against IRA Terrrors! This was happening right under your nose. Many innocent man, woman and children were killed.
You pretend to be civilized where you are week! Don't forget the terror and attacks committed by your fore fathers in India, South Africa and other parts of the world just for lotting the resources of weeker countries!
Many Muslims are being killed ruthlessly by British and American armies in the name of your so called democracy (Evilism). The whole world knows your hidden agenda - Possession of Muslim Oil???
Do you believe in State Terrorism. If not then you should protest against your own country!!
God blessings to humanity!
Addition: CNN, BBC and FOX have their own hidden agenda - defacing Islam in Europe and they get advertizements only if they follow this hidden agenda. They are making money by unjust favouring of Govt policies. Why these TV channels do not comment on UN policies. UN has always disapproved American & British attacks on Iraq & Afghanistan.
Muslim world had no sectarian killings in Iraq and Lebonan untill American & British armies entered!!
Listen what Iraqis are saying ..."Go away we shall settle our problems". But you are so infected by your own Media and Governments that you may never know the facts!

Well, no one plans a protest or anything so where can we go to one? Also, these 'Muslim' terrorists are not part of any government to protest against e.g. we can protest against Bush administration etc. I think us Muslims should protest against these guys, but since we are Muslims, we can understand why they do those acts but we all believe it is wrong. They carry out those acts because bad things are happening to Muslims by American and British troops (sorry, not all troops are angels, there are troops killing children. It's hard to accept the truth, I know) but I am against what those suicide bombers do and I'm sure many other Muslims feel the same way and we are sick and tired of having our beautiful religion hijacked by a bunch of war-mongers. By the way, I don't understand how you can say that moderate Muslims don't intergrate in western society, I do, but you have to remember that there has to be just as much effort to intergrate by the non-Muslim civilians, it works both ways, not just one way. Where I live in London, Muslims and non-Muslims intergrate and there is no problem.

Then your question isn't approximately terrorism, this is lots greater profound than that. it relatively is a pair of divided planet. Mankind has to locate a fashion around all this violence or mankind is doomed. there substitute right into a time around approximately 900ad while Jews Muslims and Christians labored with one yet another interior the community. we would desire to try greater effective or the divide wil widen!

I agree. Only yesterday a friend of mine was on his high horse about muslims. Get the all out, is his opinion and Im sure it would be the opinion of many just now. Surely the big guns of the british muslim world should be standing up for the good muslim people of the country so as to re-assure us that there are very few extremists

To Stanley Fish: Not all Muslims want that, you are just stereotyping them.
If people are true Muslims, they will not believe that the terrorists are helping the country, because the Quran does not say that you can use Islam as an excuse to kill people (which is what they are doing).
