I think you need to look at the kind of things you want to listen to, as the two services provide different stations. Like they both carry different sports, which kind of sucks if you like baseball and football since neither carries both.
Quality wise they sound the same I would say.

as mentioned above, you should probably look at both radios' programming packages.

I have both Sirius and XM. I originally went with Sirius because they do feature NFL coverage during the season. When we bought our new car it came with XM. I think that both offer different channels, and that some are better on XM than on Sirius (like the Blues channel for example)
If I were to settle down with one, it would probably be Sirius though. I prefer their programming over XM's. An they have some good talk radio channels, i.e. Maxim and Howard Stern.
Take a look at the programming, that is what will probably influence your choice the most.

The main difference is the programming. Sirius has Jerry Springer, NASCAR. XM has it's own programming.
I understand that there is a rumor that the two companies will merge in the future. Even if they do, I do not know how this will affect the programming with the different systems.
The people I have talked to that have the radios, say that they love them, and wouldn't want to go back to the regular ones.

Sirius is better by far. Better programming all around, and the have Howard.
It shouldn't matter soon anyway, cause Sirius is trying to buy XM right now.

You are gonna get mixed answers, i have had both and to me sirius is best. I listen to mainly rock and sirius has better stations for that.

I have XM and I Truly like it best. I dissagree however with what someone said. There is nascar and there is no commercials on music stations
