I have a Mitsubishi SpaceWagon GLXi and it can go about 3.5 miles. Ours is a 2 ltr 16 val, it depends on the size of the engine.

Very difficult question as there are so many unknowns. It depends on driving style, town or motorway, condition of the car. But as a general guide you will average somewhere between 5.5 and 11 klms per litre. Really put your foot down and it could be a lot worse, as on any car.

There's a US website called
fueleconomy.gov
where you can search for gas mileage and compare all kinds of cars, you'll just have to convert the metrics since its in gallons and miles.
I just checked and it says 31mpg for manual and 29mpg automatic on the higway, about 22mpg in the city.
