A young lady and her child were driving home when a truck with three construction workers, all intoxicated, hit her and killed her and the child. It was a hit and run since they drove off, but two cars kept pursuing them and led the cops to them.

Here it's one of the hottest discussion topics now. It is their fault of course for driving drunk, but is it our government's fault as well for not enforcing our borders and penalizing employers? Is it employers' fault for hiring these people to attract them to come here? Is it also Mexico's fault for turning a blind eye to the situation here?

The woman's husband is suing the government because he says that if we enforced our laws, the illegal immigrant would not be here and his wife and child would still be alive.

"Me": The young lady and child were Hispanic. This is not about race.

If the Media would give coverage maybe even tell about the deaths caused by the criminal illegal aliens per day. More per day than in Iraq. The USA citizens would see whats going on.But since they are wanting the votes for there political side not much is said. Just my thought.

It is the immigrants fault because they were driving while drunk. That is where the ultimate blame lies.

In my eyes they deserve a fair trial but not the same a United States citizen, they should not be allowed the same rights as a legal citizen or legal immigrant. That is how it should be. You would not afforded the same rights if you did this in another country that you where in illegally.

The government and the employer have some blame. The employer more than the government. The employer knowingly hired these men who were here illegally. He should be out of business.

The government does not have the resources or the know how to deal with this problem. They cannot function with any kind of competence on any issue. Why do we expect them to do it with illegal immigration?

What an awful story! O'Reilly and Geraldo had a big on-air shout fest about a month ago regarding a very similar situation (2 young girl were killed by an illegal alien drunk driver who had 3 previous DUIs). O'Reilly kept saying that this issue was about illegal aliens and Geraldo kept saying that it was about drunk driving and it had nothing to do with illegal immigrants. O'Reilly was correct. Just like in this current case you mentioned, if these illegal aliens hadn't been in our country illegally and if our govt had been enforcing the law, then these innocent people would still be alive.

Who is more to blame? I think the illegal aliens themselves, their employer, and the govt are at fault. First off, these illegal aliens know they aren't supposed to be in our country...they are well aware of their status here in the U.S. Secondly, their employer should also get sued. Employers must start to see the consequences of hiring illegal aliens. They are profiting from them while Americans are dying. Finally, the U.S. govt has been continuing to fail us in enforcing the law. Enforcement is necessary. Why the heck do we even have laws? It's anarchy with the illegal aliens.

I hope the husband cleans out the governments banks. In Austin recently there was an incident of where a mob beat a man to death for getting involved in a incident where a child was hit by a car (child is okay) and tried to defend his friend. The talk shows were going nuts, but the interesting thing that came out was that many of the callers had been victims of hit and runs by illegals so the tension is high in this regard. I agree with the women's husband. God Speed.

This happened in my city but the victims were two teenage girls, I blame local and state officials. Our city government does not cooperate with law enforcement for illegal immigrants, yep that's right I live in a sanctuary city... The gentlemen who killed the two teenage girls had 2 previous DUI's in other local cities and a warrant for his arrest but avoided the law because he was undocumented and our city leaders have taken on the wonderful role of sanctuary for illegal immigrants which in my book is also sanctuary for criminals.... It could have been prevented as far as I am concerned, this guy should have been behind bars but when our leaders refuse law enforcement criminals slip through the cracks.

On the positive side, since this accident in my city the people are speaking out and it looks like things may be changing and many of our esteemed city leaders are scrambling to keep their jobs.

That's a very sad story. No one legal or illegal should be out on the road driving under the influence. However, there are many drunk driving cases that involve US citizens or permanent residents and people don't generalize the whole US a drunk drivers. The woman's husband is suing the government because he knows that he can get the most money out of them, instead of 3 drunken idiots that were out on the road probably without insurance since they probably didn't have a license.

Dear Me,

"Charging illegal immigrants just because of the slip at the border won't account for much. "-I beg to differ. Charging illegal immigrants "just because of the slip at the border" would account for everything. Mainly in this situation a mother and her child.

This is so awful! I don't understand why our government is pushing to let these illegals stay in our country and are now trying to push through driver's certificate's for illegals so that they can go to work, etc. We can thank Clinton, Obama, Durbin and all of the others who voted for the immigration reform bill. They are to blame for not protecting our country. And we can thank Bush for not enforcing our laws but instead encouraging breaking the law. Shame on them all!
