It takes a few days to heal. I have epilepsy, and I've bitten my tongue so hard I left bite marks along the edge that lasted for 3-4 days. Fortunately, the mouth heals faster than most areas of the body, so it should be healed within a few days. Just watch for infection--mine have never gotten infected, but the human mouth has more germs and bacteria than just about anywhere else.

tongue has number of highly vascular (rich in blood) muscles which bleed and bruise easily. However, for this very same reason they heal quickly and heal well. keep eating pureed stuff and lots of soothing mouth-feel snacks . your neurologist can writhe for a novocaine liquid syrup that u can swish and spit several times a day( decreases pain by numbing the tongue). it will all be over in 3/4 days. more importantly, be totally compliant with your treatment of seizure. its a long term thing . good luck.

Not sure how long until it heals from biting it, but if you were to get it pierced, it takes about 2-4 weeks for swelling to go down and probably about 6months for it to fully heal. The tongue is one of the fastest healing body parts if that's any consolation

My hubby is epileptic and has done the same thing the dotor recommended using FLETCHERS SORE MOUTH it is a liquid. Very little is needed we dip a Q-tip in it and apply to the wounded area. It really helps it heal up fast. It also works great on canker sores and any other mouth wound. Hope you feel better soon.

Rinse with salt water or diluted Hydrogen peroxide. Several times a day. If you wish there is a mouth rinse you can get with a prescription, but it is costly. It will take time to heal, it is moist all the time.
