Trying to call my grandmother this weekend to sweep her up for lunch...her phone line is busy...I'm like what's that noise??? Is my grandmother the only person in America who refuses to get call waiting?

This is hilarious. I can actually! My mother does not have call waiting or an answering machine. It drives me nuts. She actually just got a cell phone, but its one of those cell phones for kids really. I think she can only call 911 and her own house.

Some do not like getting their conversations interrupted. The are slower paced people WHO think things can wait. It's just a Way of being which was around longer than call waiting.
deal with it, and write a note to her.

LOL, oh I know this feeling too well! Eventually I was able to convince granny to get call-waiting and voice mail, but now I realize she needs A CELL PHONE!!! LOL
You might have to just call the phone company and get it added while you are there with her one day!

LOL no i think it's just older people in general. Some older people think it's stupied to waste money on call waiting . They figure who ever is trying to get ahold of them can call back if it's that important. Besides they lived without it years ago . Besides they dont' want to be bothered when there on the phone chattin other old ladies ears off ... LOL.

My grandma doesn't have call waiting either...and when she gets on the phone, she's on it for at least 45 minutes. Might as well just drive over to her house and talk to her in person :) Good luck!!

I know what you mean though, my mother is the only other person without call waiting ... she says she thinks it's rude to interrupt a phone call like that.

I think it's incredibly rude to use call waiting unless it's a life or death emergency.
You think THAT'S bad....my parents refuse to get caller ID!!!
