Clinical depression is a medical condition where a person feels very low or sad over a long period of time. It is more severe than the general feeling of hopelessness that a person may feel after a particularly stressful event in her life and often results in a change in the person's functioning. During bouts of depression, a person feels extremely dejected and has feelings of inadequacy or low self esteem. They take a gloomy outlook upon life.

A patient with depression may have physical symptoms in addition to psychological ones. The most commonly seen symptoms are:
Sleep disturbance, either excessive sleep or insomnia (lack of sleep)
Continuous fatigue and tiredness
Headache
Feeling of irritability and excessive crying
Loss of appetite
Loss of interest in any activity
Vague pains in the body
Fluctuation in weight
Constipation
Decrease in sexual urge
Poor concentration
Poor co-ordination of limbs
Feelings of worthlessness, helplessness and guilt
Suicidal thoughts sometimes culminating in suicide attempts.

Yeah! I would say so if you have been this way for over a year yes that is clinical and you need to seek medical help to help you get your life back together and you back on the right track and I am not saying this to give you advice I am saying this as a person who has gone through this myself,so your past the point get some help if you really want to feel better and care about yourself.

A disorder such as depression is not considered clinical until it has been diagnosed by a professional, and treatment has begun. Also, a disorder is not a disorder until it disrupts ones daily quality of living. If you have been having symptoms for over a year, it is likely time to seek a good psychotherapist.

Depression does not "become" clinical or what is now referred to as Internal. It either is Internal or it isn't. After having symptoms for over a year, I would strongly suggest you see a psychiatrist for proper diagnoses.

It becomes clinical depression when someone e.g. your GP tells you it is.
Being depressed is very common, if you go to the docters then they can give you some anti depressants or something, then it becomes clinical.

Being down once in awhile is pretty normal, but when depression is keeping you from doing normal activities, you should talk to your doctor. Depression is usually caused by a chemical imbalance in your brain. There are good medications now to help you deal with that.Counseling is good, too, but you should see your doctor first to rule out any physical problems.

Definetly seek help from a counsellor, what your feeling mayb e anxiety too? I know I was feeling depressed until I saw a counsellor who found the root of my problem. Most work places have a confidential counsellor help line and they can recommend further help if required.
