Normal being hetrosexual of course. You must assume with the question that the drug has a 99.9% success rate, and no side effects, and is free.

only the mentally ill will turn down the pill, they would also tell u that there is no such ting as normal, that it is genetic(lol....even tho their science cant find a gay gene)and then try and convince u they are normal.I know a gay and he cured himself and said he feels like a new human being now,he hated himself so much that he was goin to take his life until he started to look at his life logically and decided to change his lifestyle.I am sure he would have loved a drug that made him normal as he said he felt he had wasted most of his life.in the end tho it has to be their choice, let them labour under the pretence of their normal lifestyle, only the fool stands by their own misunderstandin

I would believe that very few would volunteer to take such a drug. I do believe however that if such a drug was invented and successful, that parents and religious groups of such would force the younger gay generations to take such a drug to "cure" thier little problem.

I as a gay man would not choose to take such drug. I did not choose to be gay, but I am proud of how I was raised and of who I am. There would however be the few that would think it would be easier....but then would you have to continue taking the drug or is it going to be a miracle one time taking drug and then you don't have to worry about repressing those feelings of being gay anymore. So many questions and concerns would be raised...as with side effects, almost all drugs have some kind of side effects and when are you to know that a drug company is going to give away something for free? lol Just asking :)

I wouldn't. This is normal for me, heterosexuality is not. So for me to change would be abnormal.

So I wouldn't.

Plus after all the trials and tribulations that we've gone through, to simply use a pill would rip us of our dignity.

But it would work both ways, you'd then have pills to make people gay or lesbian. So it would just become a choice, and everyone would be, by definition bisexual with just a pill.

But just because heterosexuality is more common, doesn't make it more normal, that's a fallacy of thought brought on by a heterocentric culture. It's like saying white people are more normal just because there's more of them in some places, it's foolish.

A small minority would to because of pressure from their families or others. For those of you who dont know I do have 4 children aged from 8 to 15, my decisions have affected their life and sometimes I would just about do anything to reverse the damage that I have caused. But in saying that my kids have also benefited from seeing the best of humanity & the worst intolerance's and bigotry and I believe that has made them better human beings. I would take the drug if my kids asked me to, but I know they wouldnt ask because they love their mum just as she is.

I love how people spaz about questions like this. They obviously worded it as such to pick on everyone who wants to defend "Gay" as being normal. I believe I was taught not to worry about what people thought was normal. And maybe you answerer's could too? Instead of WRITING IN CAPS, and demanding people agree with you. Fact is some don't and you are only making yourselves look like a** holes by being so uptight about it, are they not entitled to their opinions without being labled?

I agree it's hard to define normal, but one thing that's fact is that George Bush isn't.

It depends. If you were in love with someone would you take a pill to destroy that love? Of course not. If you were lonely and unhappy because of isolation and self loathing would you take a pill to change what you hate about yourself - Of course you would.
The only reason that anyone would take such a pill is because they were told they were abnormal, immoral perverts that should not be allowed to exist in society, and then believed it.

Probably less than a fourth of people who are "out." Homosexuality has been much more accepted lately by western society. There would be some people who would want the drug, but then again, there are some people who want a drug wiht the opposite effect, lol.

Absolutely NOT. Who said being heterosexual is any more normal than homosexuality anyways? And what about bisexuals? pansexuals? asexuals? etc etc etc? are they abnormal too? Would you take a new drug to become gay? why would you chose to be straight?

i think i would use it, assuming what's said up there was true.
(about the no side efffects and free - of course, i would wait for other lgbt people to use it before i did).

but i dont know what it feels like to have a partner of the same sex or to be ridiculed by he whole world. being thought of as 'not normal'

i guess i would have to live a day in their shoes.

i think many may give it a try, especially those from orthodox families.
...but really, a drug which can turn you from gay to straight has gotta have some side effects
