I recently started Norinil birth control pills and I am on the first week of them and I just started my period. I have had alot of problems with periods in the past (even had a D&C done) but this was supposed to help the problem. Instead, this period is just as heavy (which is really heavy, including clumping) and very painful. Has this happened to anyone before? And do you think there is any cause for concern?

Breakthrough bleeding (bleeding that can act like a regular period) can occur when starting out on birth control pills because of the fact that the body is trying to adjust to being on the medication.

I would recommend getting in touch with your dr to let them know what is going on to see what they want you to do next.

Yes, I have had a huge problem over the years with breakthrough bleeding because of the way I take my birth control pills so have to change brands from time to time. But each time this happens I always let my dr know what is going on.

This happened to be exactly
in fact I ended up in the ER and never took Birth control again

check to see if you have
Poly cystic ovarian syndrome (what it sounds like you have),
A Vitimen D or/and Iron deficency,

or (chronic) Candidiasis (which makes you allergic (sort of) to Birth control, antibiotics, hormonal pills, and steroids, and many other substances and foods) though most doctors don't understand this last disease (so look it up online)

I have/had all of these
and I had bad clotting and had to change tampons about evry 15 minutes!

with the worse cramps you can imagine
I couldn't leave bed

good luck and blessings with everything

If you just recently started the pills it will take a couple months for the pills to actually regulate your body. After 2-3 months I would say if you are still haveing the sam problems go back to your dr.
