I'll be letting my family/friends decide. I find it odd when people know what they're going to have played - especially when it's a really sad song. If it's a song that really shows who they are then that's OK, but my boyfriend wants a Tracey Chapman song. The lyrics are really mopey, and don't relate to him at all. It's like telling everyone that they need to be sad. It seems a bit strange to organise a sad song to have played at your funeral when it doesn't even relate to who you are. My uncle had Let it Be by the Beatles. That song is so beautiful, but every time I play it I think about that day.

Wow, I used to think Wake me up before you go go, just as a funny kind of ironic song, but then I thought, it's a funeral! That's not right! It would be obscene, and then, whenever people hear that happy, catchy song, they would only be reminded of a funeral. My cousin had Metallica playing at his funeral, and whenever you hear it, it sounds so morbid...
So I'm thinking Satisfied Mind by Jeff Buckley as well (Sketches... version) and Beautiful Day by U2 as it's such an uplifting song.

The wind beneath my wings - better midler
In the ghetto - Elvis
He will raise you up on eagles wings - christian hyme
Then i would like my friends and family to pick a song they think represents my life.
I am big music lover and want my funeral to include lots of music!

i know what you mean.
my brother died of a drug overdose and i choose knocking on heavens door by guns n roses to be played, i think it made the whole congregation cry cuz it related so well
but i havent been able to listen to it since, i have to turn it off cuz its too painfull, even tho it was a favourite song and it was almost 3 years ago :(
im not sure what ill have at mine tho, may choose that one as well, but at the teas afterwards i want a cd of my fave songs played to cheer everyone up down under by men at work will be one of them i love it!
