We have recently purchased and installed a new bath, however we are finding that when we stand in it it makes alot of noise (creaking, groaning) and it feels like it's going to collapse!! Not sure if we're just being a bit paranoid but I wondered if anyone else has had this with a new bath and if we should be worried? Any advise/ comments would be much appreciated.

Our bathtub did the same thing. My husband and son are heavy people and eventually the tub cracked and we needed a new one installed. We have a neighborhood contractor that is the best around. He came and took a bag of cement and poured (mixed up with water and everything) it on the floor where the new tub was going to be installed. He then placed the tub down on top of the cement and he said that it would squish out, conforming to the shape of the tub and give it the needed support it doesn't have normally. Our new tub is now very solid and he said it would last for years and years without any fear of cracking. I can really see the difference from this installation from one we had done when we first moved in years ago.

When a tub is installed it should be "set" IE: I put in about two hundred pounds of "Level set" concrete and "set" the tub into this when it has been lined up and ready to put in. Enough to let the tub set into it without touching the floor.

In this way, the tub cannot move or, make noise. You must of course make sure the floor is in good condition (maybe your floor is what's creaking?) checking all the joists and sub flooring.
You'd be surprised how many floors aren't in any condition to hold a tub full of water. At 8.5 pounds per gallon, you have a lot of weight here to deal with.
