That damn woman wanted to rule forever, whilst Mr Blair and all the little Blairs left smiling and happy. Ten years of that job is enough for any normal family man, especially with all the working class Tories, and their beleaguered M.P's, condemned now for decades to sniping from the periphery of British politics. In a way I feel sorry for these semi detached Tories. They have espoused their bellicose, frustrated stupidity upon on of the best PM's of out time. Now the pea brains have got to find someone else to thrust their remedial diatribe upon. If you didn't feel sorry for them you'd laugh. haven't read this page yet but I bet there's quite a few of the poor forlorn dears on here.

Work it out for yourself...Tony knows he has many years of conning people ahead of him whilst Maggie knew her days for doing the same were numbered>
Still Maggie was better than all the rest.
I Hope Gordon leaves with his head held high!

Thatcher - crying with self pity. The only person she ever cried for was herself.
Blair - laughed because, for all he achieved in 10 years, people will only remember the bad thing.

El Tone left at a time of his choosing. Thatcher was forced out of office by her own cabinet so was somewhat upset. Simple really.

Thatcher seemed to want the PM's job for life, nomatter how unpopular she became. She famously said that she would "go on and on and on". So she was pretty devastated when she was forced out by her own party.
Blair on the other hand, made the decision himself that he wanted to leave. And I think he was pretty relieved to get out of it in the end. I don't think he's a man who can handle the thought of unpopularity very well, even though he brought it on himself.
