Yes, uncomfortably so. If you are using it on your lap there are two things to consider: i) use newspaper to insulate, not a cushion, ii) ensure any vents are not covered by your clothing as the laptop settles into your lap.
The reason for using the newspaper is that it is less likely to fold around any vents. On my Mac the vents are at the back of the keyboard, below the display. Find yours and make sure they don't get covered.
It'll still get hot though.

Laptops all share the same design problems
Smaller size with More power = more heat
The cooler a latop can run the less burden it is
on the electronic components which usually
Equals = Longer life.
There are ways to protect your laptop IE never block the vents either with a chair sofa bedding or your lap.
External Fans are ONLY OK if they do NOT use the laptops
power supply as this increases the current load.
For Most of us a simple laptop holder does the job
by preventing blocked air and allowing natural cooling.
If you REALLY need to cool you laptop even further
without much of a performance hit you may wish to try

Yes, this is perfectly normal, a laptop's fan is very small and is situated in the laptop and with no vent! laptops get warm/hot underneath as there is no vent for air to go through. it is perfectly normal, so there is no need to worry mate.
take care

Yes, but this is bad for the laptop. Try propping it up with something or occasionally fanning the underside out.

Yes, laptops always heat up. And it's a real bonus if you work in a cold office during winter, you have a built in hand warmer.
