Last night was a great concert, but I don't think I've EVER seen such a shambles in terms of broadcasting - the BBC/presenters didn't get a single link to the show or the interviews right, and Jamie Theakston and Claudia Winlkeman had absolutely nothing to say to fill the awkward silences.

At first I was grateful that it was only us in the UK that had to suffer through it all, until I found out that the concert AND the in between bits were going out to the whole world.

Was anyone else totally embarrassed by our "prestigious" BBC?

It was good to watch but like you said the broadcasting was embarrassing. A concert for someone so important, you'd think they would have got everything right, not one thing wrong!
Yes i was embarrassed and i also felt sorry for William and Harry as it must have been frustrating that the BBC completely F****** up their mums concert.

I totally agree with you, the music and the performers (excluding Ricky Gervais) were amazing and done an amazing job supporting such good causes but what were they thinking of giving Jamie Theakston and that plank the job of presenting such a major show?!

Also although I think Fearne Cotton had quite a difficult job she should definately be thinking of some more interesting questions to ask............I mean asking the princes if they were looking forward to it?!! What did she expect them to say!?!? Um no Fearne its going to be a complete bore!!!
Eugghhhhh!

Also I thought the ending was a bit abrupt and was waiting for something else to happen!

All credit goes to the royal lads and the performers - well done to them all xxx

Couldn't agree more. It was dreadful and obviously the BBC was embarrassed as no listing at the end was run as usually happens with everyone even remotely connected with the set up listed.
To me the only professional thing about the whole presentation was the arena announcer - I think it was Richard Allison.
Why were there so many empty seats and I don't mean the restricted view ones?

I agree it was a great concert, but I was lost as to the fact why Lily Allen got a three song set and the Quo only got one. O.o

The technical difficulties I can understand, being from that kind of background myself, but you would have thought with previous experiences the hosts would have known what they were doing.

The Ricky parts that "filled" the gap between Elton and Take That's performances was dire....it made me wonder why they didnt link straight back to Jamie and Claudia when there were difficulties, save Ricky making a **** of himself live on TV!!

I totally agree with you, the presenters did not have a clue what they were doing. Jamie Theakston annys me at the best of times but last night was a total different kettle of fish. It has now gone from dislike to the fact that I deteste the guy. Also what was the deal with Gillian Anderson from the X-Files doing there?????? Waiting for her ship to collect her??? LOL. Last nights performand by the BBC makes me embarrased to be British.

Those "MISSING LINKS" were absolutely CRINGE-inducing!

And the previous answerer is TOTALLY CORRECT, - Ricky Gervais should NEVER be allowed ANYWHERE close to a TV studio/CAMERA or a STAGE, - EVER, again! For me, he demonstrated, - quite CLEARLY, - that, when it comes to "COMEDIC ABILITY", - or even, to "HUMANITY", - he IS, - indeed, - the afore-mentioned "MISSING LINK"!

The man was an EMBARRASSMENT, - both, to the NATION, and, to HUMANITY, in general!

If that load of TRIPE, is the BEST that he's GOT, - someone should FIND him a PROPER JOB!

Who cares about the broadcasting.

The Concert was the only thing that I wanted to watch.

Ricky Gervais was very funny indeed.

The only bit I saw was the Ricky Gervais link at the end, and that was completely cringe worthy. I'm a huge fan of his and it was just embarrassing. If the rest of it was like that it must have been truly awful.
