I truly believe that "age is just a figure". Age doesn't define one's maturity level, and this is a fact. I think most people assume that age translates to wisdom when actually, your willing acceptance of constant progress of the maturity of the mind and your readiness and openness to mistakes and blunt truths is the key to growth of your emotional, intellectual and spiritual being, ultimately reaching self-realization.
Some people can keep going on living their lives for many decades and still not understand the basic fundamental principles of honesty, integrity and pure logic and common sense, even if they've gone through so many experiences in their lives. They chose to be ignorant, despite their long list of life experiences. It doesn't mean anything more than a blank sheet of paper, going through so much in life and not grasping anything constructive from all that. They actually chose not to learn valuable teachings from what they went through.
People often use age to intimidate others of "implied" wisdom and knowledge. It's only when an individual speaks his/her mind and soul that you can truly tell if one is "experienced" or not, not from the figure of his/her age.

I think People become Wise when they get older, because when you get older... you learn more and more things about life and how to live it. Maybe the Man at your university has had some troubles in his life and he wants to know more. You shouldn't take people for granted. Some people live very unlucky lives and don't really get the chance to learn... maybe because of Health, Economics, Poverty, etc. Yes it probably does have to do with Family and all that. I feel sorry for him if it does have to do with any of the Problems I have already listed, it is not his fault if he doesn't have anybody to guide him in life. Some people just take longer to learn, and some people are just very unlucky. Don't be so judgmental, just because you are in your 40s doesn't mean you can't do anything you want to do. In Conclusion, Just let the Guy Learn.

Not necessarily. The more u see the world the more experienced u become. A younger person who has traveled a lot of places and did many kinds of jobs must be more experienced in life than an older man who has never left his own town. However, in general we think an older person has more wisdom since he might have experienced a lot.

You definetly grow from experience.....but that doesn't make you wiser.Just because someone did it before doesn't mean they did it the right way. There's alot of old fools walking around.

No.
You accumulate experience, but; it does not grow. It just keeps happening again and again and again. That is why it is called experience. You have been there and done that.
