Right,

A few Q&A recently on evolution have prompted me to ask:
How many people on this site believe in Neo-Darwinian Evolution?
You don't have to post any *reasons* why you do or do not believe. I think the standard reasons are probably "taken as read" - I'm just interested, and am going to post this on both the Science and Religion fora.
I'll also post the results once this question's time is up.

Yes, I believe the process of biological evolution has happened on this planet.

I believe in Neo-Darwinian evolution (if belief is even the right word for it)

In fact, I don't think that you can 'not believe' in Neo-Darwinian Evolution: we can see viruses evolve in a neo-darwinian fashion in our lifetimes - so you can chose to be ignorant of evolution or not. Whether humans evolved through the course of natural selection is contested, but I don't believe there is an alternative explanation that is backed up by evidence or common sense (if we were made by a 'god', who made the god? It just raises more questions and solves none!)

Evolution? that's where a bunch of stuff that we can't prove happened to animals and stuff that don't exist except in a fossil record so long ago that there is no possible way to identify that it actually did happen....

Yeah sure I'll believe that...

Creationism? that's where a guy sat down for a week and created every aspect of reality and sculpted it to his liking?

sure I'll believe that....

Either way it doesn't really matter. We got here... somehow.... and now we're here and thriving.

So if we don't know where we came from how do we know where we're goin? Good thing we know where we've been that way we will know we are back whenever we get there and we'll know how to get back to where we're from once we're there....

Microevolution and macroevolution occur. Any reasonable person looking at the evidence should be able to see that it isn't a matter of belief, it's a matter of evidence.

When you say "Neo-Darwinian Evolution", I'm assuming your talking about this: http://www.uwf.edu/jgould/neodarwin.pdf

What's neo-Darwinian evolution?

If it's like ordinary evolution by natural and sexual selection then I'm a yes.

Yes - I accept the neo-Darwinian evolutionary theory as it stands at present.

BTW - I am a Christian. Just so you don't draw the dividing lines in the wrong place :)

I'd be curious to know how many others are also willing to state both their 'belief' in evolutionary theory & their faith in God.

I'm a creationist, with an open mind. Unconvinced by evolution at the moment. When they find strong evidence I will change.
