I just like the idea of being a human shooting star going across a clear summer night sky, so peeps can say "Oh look, there goes Elric"

I think it would cost in the region of $20,000.00. Earlier this year (two years after his death) a quarter of an ounce of James Doohan's ashes (along with 200 other people) were sent into space briefly before falling back to earth.

James doohan was Scotty in Star Trek as you probably know and asked for this in his will. The article at the time said that the flight was actually sub orbital and did mention that a flight into deep space would cost 20 grand (at least I think that was the figure)

If you want to find out more about this you should go to the Celestis Memorial Spaceflights website:

Not an environmentally friendly idea, Elric! If the body doesn't burn completely, there will be unnecessary pollution and to send the body to the outer edges of atmosphere (so that it can hutle back at a high enough velocity) needs a lot of energy which can be better used.

I know it will be lots. I always thought you stayed up there when you were catapulted into space but they had a problem finding 'Scotty' from star trek when the capsule arrived back on earth. After being beamed up it must be a bit of a come down. Perhaps if you pay even more you can continue to orbit. Timothy Leary may still be in the heavens. I hope so!
