Sadly no. Democrats and republicans all become incumbents once elected and are only looking out for their own interests - getting reelected.

And the bureaucrats all want to further their own little empires.

Would you say that government servants are doing what it takes to maintain Americans' privileged middle-class lifestyle of assumed right to consume and produce waste how many times over that of the rest of the people on the planet?

Globally, the 20% of the world’s people in the highest-income countries account for 86% of total private consumption expenditures — the poorest 20% a minuscule 1.3%. More specifically, the richest fifth:

* Consume 45% of all meat and fish, the poorest fifth 5%
* Consume 58% of total energy, the poorest fifth less than 4%
* Have 74% of all telephone lines, the poorest fifth 1.5%
* Consume 84% of all paper, the poorest fifth 1.1%
* Own 87% of the world’s vehicle fleet, the poorest fifth less than 1%

So if you are unwilling to drastically cut back say 90% of your consumption and wast production, your fair share, wouldn't you say your government is representing and serving you well by protecting the markets that cater to you? If not you personally, your fellow citizens?

My personal interests at heart............ no.

Our government was never designed to have one person's best interests at heart. It is a broad view of what is good for many. What might be good for you, might be horrible for me.

To even suggest that it should is idiotic.

It's naive and stupid to expect any conceivable national power structure will necessarily care one bit about your particular interests.

The government recognizes your right to participate in the election of its officeholders. That's all that matters.

No. More like at my head. No government, Conservative, or Liberal, gives a crap about the people, and their desires for a free nation. They care about their careers, and money. They care about themselves. They always forget that WE THE PEOPLE are the rulers, and decider's for America, and not them.
