I think that if people want to answer a question, they should answer it and leave the spelling and grammatical corrections alone. To publicly point out errors is rude.

Depends on the sort of person you are. If you like to feel that your standard of English is pretty good both at spelling and punctuation, you tend to be a bit critical of others whose standards might be lower.I find that what annoys me is the spell checker itself. It is obviously based on American spellings and no allowance is made for UK differences. For example a doctor has a practice in the UK. There is no such word as practice in the USA ,it is practise. The two words to me have entirely different meanings. To those people whose spelling may not be of the highest order don't worry, this is not a school or college, with your written work being marked for spelling or grammar. Just as long as we are able to determine what your question is. There are many cases where the wording and spelling are so garbled that it is not possible to determine what the question is about.

No, but I'm probably one of them.
Spelling mistakes impair communication; if you ask a question and phrase it badly, someone who knows the answer might not respond if they don't understand what you're asking. Good grammar and spelling are essential to being taken seriously by people, and it shows that you care enough about your interaction with them to put in the minimal effort needed to run a spell check on your sentences.

I think the solution to this problem is that who needs to answer your questions should do so, with a small mention about the spelling, so eventually you will automatically remember to use the spell check
I hope those people who have only criticised your spelling and not answered your question, read this so from now on they will be able to address you correctly

Shouldn't that be 'forgotten to use the spell checker' rather than 'forgot'?

I don't use spell check unless I am using MS word. I have seen questions posted which are nearly unreadable. Yes it is annoying..!
