They could be sought, stalked and kidnapped/killed. If you have recieved threatening messages go to the police. Don't delete, the police can trace the person using the email.

Depends on what it said... If it was saying ' I'M GOING TO KILL YOU' then I would probably go to the police and they could uncrypt the code and trace it back to what computer and most likely finding the person... But if it was saying more like' Your a loser and no one likes you' that's threatening in the emotional way which could result in suicide or turning emo. Either way you ( or whoever it may be ) should contact a parent ( if you are younger ) or the police ( if your older ) . Most emails are just sent to scare people but their are some that have truth to them so just be careful and make sure you watch out. Always tell someone about it. Better safe than sorry.

Nothing, unless the sender actually knows your physical address.
There's a way to get further details about the sender. If you're working with Outlook Express, you can right-click the email from the Inbox, then click "Properties". The information will show the true origin of the email. You can select, copy & paste this info to a Word document, then save it for use by the police to trace the offender. Don't delete the email.

you must be careful and tell someone about it! the person whom sent the email to u might ask someone to treaten u 1 more time! maybe tell the police about it!

Are you asking about punishment? A lot.
Children or students can get suspended or worse, expelled from their school.
Adults can get arrested and charged.
