On my website www.qoocle.com I have managed to have a link at the bottom which when clicked makes the page a user's homepage, but it only works in IE. Is there one for firefox? Or even better a universal code for all browsers?

Allow me to be a little bit rude and *not* answer your question! Instead, please let me tell you why you shouldn't really want to do this anyway:

1) It's gimmicky
2) Users don't appreciate such strong "hints"
3) It's not standard JavaScript/DOM and so it's *never* going to work on all browsers
4) It will be a security alert in a strict browser / strict setup

LoL, sorry about that but I just had to get it off my chest!

As said above, it is a bit tricky, but feasible.
HOWEVER, I would strongly recommend avoiding doing this: it is a show of self-importance of your part and a total lack of good taste and manners!
So many sites have this that the question that pops to my mind is "Who do you think you are?"... and I never re-visit the site.
It may be ok for Yahoo, google or some other BIG search engines, but NEVER for a private individual.

Bear in mind that if a user has some kind of Internet security on their system then it may prevent this operation from occuring as it might think your code is trying to hijack their browser.

It is a better idea to let the user add your site to their favourites list.

Unfortunately there isn't function like this, in firefox you can just add your site to sidebar and that's not the same.. :)

So if you want this script, look at here

You can do it but it is little tricky. Ask a firefox expert at http://askexpert.info/
