1-A photon hits a metal surface and an electron of surface breaks off by taking the energy of photon.

Energy of incoming photon = The binding energy of electron +
The kinetic energy of electron
that breaks off

Ef = Eb+ Ek

2- The photoelectric effect supports the concept of the dual nature of light, that light exhibits characteristics of waves and particles at different times.

The effect was impossible to understand in terms of the classical wave description of light, as the energy of the emitted electrons did not depend on the intensity of the incident radiation
