its claimed to be formed when water enters the cave thru a crack and because of the low temperature solidfy and the leakage stops when it forms likea complete pillar.?
is it correct.. and this year its completly melted.. why dont we introduce a propoer shiv linga in gold or silver so pilgrimage can be smooth and the temple can make more money....\source cortsy google and times of india

Amarnath linga is famous because of the way the ice idol is formed &it is a wonder created by nature.To see gold & silver idols there are so many other temples.
the journey to Amarnath & darshan of thesnow Linga is exciting as well as adventurous.
why become a spoil sport?

Your idea is good. Much significance is attached to form of Ice Shiv Lingam. This Shiva Linga may be melted but the place where it exists may be worshipped by replacing with other shiva linga procured from ancient temples.

its an natural thing made by nature. and for the sake of some money no one can play with the religious feelings of any body. thats why its not made by gold or silver. and this year lingam is started melting but not completely melted.

But it is like a wonder dont you know that..
Even we can make a gold shivalinga wherever we like.
But just think u can make a shivalinga like in Amarnath here.
That is impossible. It is an awesome one.That is made by nature. So only peoples giving respect for that.

If you want a gold and silver one why do you want to place it there, you might be lazy enough to place it in your neighbourhood.
