word, powerpoint, excel (the office suite) are available for mac, and if I may say so, are much better than the windows versions. Other programs can run, but you have to install windows on your mac. The software used for running multiple OS's is called Boot Camp and should ship with every Mac sold after October. Until then, you'll have to buy it separately I guess, but it is available off the shelf.
Good Luck

flash = yes, all microsoft office products (including excel) is a yes. Sound Forge no.

But one thing to keep in mind is that many of this products will not work with a mac straight out of the box. Which means you will have to buy a new version of excel that is mac compatible as well as any other software you would want.

Alternatively you could also run windows on mac and solve all your problems right there. I would talk to a mac rep and see which option is best for you.

Windows was designed for commercial software, softwares which you pay money for, such as Office. For Macs, you can find a lot of open source software that does the same thing as the windows programs do. Nowadays, nearly all software companies make OS X versions of their softwares (Office, Photoshop, and you Macromedia Flash/ Adobe Flash).

If you are looking for lesser known softwares that are not available for OS X, you still can run Windows on a Mac with Boot Camp and Parallels.

I used to be a Windows user, and the reason why I hesitated to convert to Mac, was because of the software issue, I used to think you couldn't get softwares on a Mac. Now I find this to be untrue, after getting my MacBook recently.

You can use windows program on a Mac. The only thing is you had to purchase those softwares which states For Mac Users only. Otherwise, you can download from internet but still remeber to choose for Mac users only.

U would have to either pay hundreds of dollars, or spend hours manually converting windows programs in to a Mac setting. It is possible, but i dont recommend trying.

Yes, almost all Windows programs can run on a MAc if you have virtual software running.

Using Virtual PC, you can run Windows applications, connect to PC networks and share files — all from your Mac.
