It is the fact that being sent there will put these people off!!! America has not had a single terrorist attack since they started sending terrorists there!!! Maybe, the very idea of being sent there would be enough to stop them without us neuking Iran?!!! Saving a war and only targetting the bad guys, hey, that sounds like a good idea?

When will you people learn, or is it a lot cause?
In Northern Ireland illegal interrogation techniques used against the Nationalist Community (many not even in the IRA) only served to build further support and new recruits for the armed struggle against the British army. 'Simple' fix brainless solutions to conflicts simply never work. A State using 'terrorist' tactics makes you worse than people you are supposed to be fighting.
Finally, even the Amercans now recognise that Guantanamo is a mistake and the sooner they close this recruiting sergeant the better.

some human beings??? and that i do no longer mean you. those are enemy combatants. they are not US electorate and are not secure under the U. S. shape and its invoice of Rights. a minimum of they are not till we carry them onto US soil. Then they have all the protections under the form. and that they'll walk unfastened because of the fact the info against them and the procedures that info substitute into accumulated is classed. won't be able to you in basic terms see a covert CIA agent in open court docket attesting approximately which communities he infiltrated and which informants he used to collect info against the defendant. That spells a lifeless end for the agent and people who helped him/her. Obama in all probability does not even comprehend what the Geneva convention isn't to show what to do with it. Militarily he's as ignorant as a human may well be and this united states is going to pay dearly for and due to that lack of information. Our infantrymen will might desire to stand those self same terrorists lower back on a battlefield and that i think many will blame Bush for that besides. Retired grasp Sergeant.

I reckon that proven terrorists should be sent anywhere where they can never harm again. Or just kill them and have done with it! I understand what you're getting at, but if a lot of the terrorists are suicide nutters anyway, they're not going to care if one of their 'brethren' gets sent to a jail 'cos they think it will please their warped interpretation of Allah.

What galls me are those people answering this who think that terrorists should be afforded some human rights! When they chose to end the lives of other people, or maimed them, as far as I'm concerned they automatically revoked their 'rights'. I won't even call them animals because even animals have a better sense of right and wrong than those scumbags. Who cares if they get used as a punching bag by a few irate soldiers! I don't condone it, but I wouldn't waste my time and energy campaigning for it to stop.

I think terrorists are fanatics that will stay on their crazy course no matter where or how you question them. Our world is getting sad & crazy & the madness has to stop. Personally, i believe that our value system has gone nuts. Mother Teresa got it right. The world is breaking down b'cos families are breaking down. We need to focus on nurturing family values.
Remember, every terrorist was a child once. Something, somewhere went very very wrong in his/her life. We need to focus on "family". Only then will the word "terror" cease to have meaning.

Edit: I agree with WakeUpSheeple. Meeting Terror with Torture is no answer but just stooping to an uncivilised level that perpetuates the madness.

Are you for real? The Americans are thinking of closing that torture facility because US judges have ruled that the random Muslims being tortured there are being held illegally, can't be tried by the military and so have full rights to a trial in the US - all the things Bush didn't want in his quest for a kangaroo court.

It's so wonderful to know that there are people like you who in 2007 still think torture is the way forward. Every bigoted person like you will inspire two Muslims to take up the cause.

Put it this way, I have never believed that the ordinary criminal law (civil law) was intended to deal with threats on the scale that terrorists present. These are well organised enemies of the state hell bent on mass murder. You cannot afford to be re-active you have to be pro-active, and be able to detain on suspicion alone. We are at war with these people, they are not ordinary criminals who have committed a one off murder.

I have more sympathy than most with you suggestion.

This is not necessary when we have the far more effective tool of making them watch Big Brother 24/7

....And tortured on the way there?
Unbelieveable.
Guantanamo is illegal so any confession or charges made there could not legally stand.
Daft.
Oh yeah...a terrorist hell bent on a suicide mission.....'Oh, I better not blow myself up because I might end up at Guantanamo'...Yeah, in how many pieces?
So you don't consider the car bombs in Iraq to be against the Americans? How many have died over there?

It is too cruel to send people, even terrorists, to Guantanamo Bay. But in order to free a hostage-maybe.

Good idea!

But I've thought of a better place for them.

Search out 'super max'. Its the 'end of the line' in the USA prison system. Underground, with no windows, constant supervision, cell moves, security checks, few privileges, etc.

I'd like to see them rot there with the 'shoe bomber'.
