As the old saying goes, you can't fire the players.
The 2007 Reds are a disaster, and they have to try SOMETHING. Dumping the manager is the traditional first step. And managers know this (they don't have to like it, but it is something that comes with the job -- someday you won't be manager any more).

He's the manager and not the GM. The team is flawed to begin with, but he took a team that showed signs of life last year with an almost .500 record (80-82) and has led them to the worst record in all of baseball. The team has underachived in my mind with Bronson Arroyo being the biggest culprit. He was brilliant for parts of last season but hasn't won a game in almost 2 months at this point. Someone has to take the fall for the mess that is the 2007 Reds and its much easier to replace a manager than it is to rebuild the roster. The GM should be the next to go so a new guy can begin to rebuild this once great franchise.

He's not the GM, but the gm should go as well. He didnt give the guy any pitching to work with and wonders why the Reds are in last place.

He wasn't the GM. Thats Wayne Krivisky (sp?). He was just the field manager.
And he was fired because the team is in last place. That is almost the only reason managers get fired.

He was fired because the Reds have been absolutely terrible this year. The players have been playing sloppy and the bullpen has been blowing leads. When your team does that, the first person fired is the manager.

He was fired becase of how bad the Reds has struggled. However the Reds front office is filled with liars. They said Jerry Narron isn't going anywhere, he's our manager and we want him here. Thats why I was surprised when they fired him.

They are on pace to win 101 games. If you were on pace to lose 2/3 of your sales as a salesman, you would be fired too.
