I know this will upset a few people but I'm going to say it anyway, so here goes.

In my opinion she was very good at playing the victim, blaming everyone else for her problems. She used the press when it suited her and was hostile when it didn't. She came from a very wealthy background and clearly wanted for very little in life. She knew exactly what she was doing when she got married and had a goal to be a princess and then Queen, unlike the lost little girl act she put on so frequently. She loved the attention she got from everyone and loved the praise for her charity work. In short

She was a manipulative, self obsessed, narcissitic opportunist.

So why she we all jump to it and cry/celebrate when evr there is an anniversary for her?

I can but agree...how refreshing to hear from someone who is not a royalist sycophant.

Princess Diana was everything you said at the end of the day most rational people will put their hands up and agree.

Though most rationally people will also agree she did a lot of good for the people, none more than anyone else of those she met, she raised awareness of a lot of charities, and locations people simply weren’t interested in.

There are often two sides to celebrities, the ’media’ side, which many celebrities buy into themselves, twist and use the press at their leisure, but that doesn’t make a whole person, through whatever emotional conflicts she had, she helped a lot of people.

I’m not a fan, I never have been, but as a human being I respect her actions and the compassion she gave. Yes, anyone who had the money could have been equally active, but not everybody who has the money is as equally active.

How many celebrities do you see visiting the places she had?

Sounds like much of you indictment of her is based on the fact that Diana was not like some other royals who are able to keep the same stoic face in the painful times - in other words she was someone with feelings. And she was human. How many of us could deal with having our marriage breaking up in the eyes of millions? I Think, like everyone, she had strengths and weaknesses.
Bottom line is it raised a great deal of money for worthy causes. What have you done to help someone less fortunate today?
I sure hope there's no one like you around to look at my mistakes when I'm dead.

You shouldn't feel angry. If her sons wanted to do a tribute then that is up to them. I do get fed up with the press with the constant 'Diana' stories but for the sons this was the 10th anniversary and money should go to good causes. I didn't watch but that was my choice - thank goodness for DVDs when there is nothing worth watching on the telly!

Do you remember the secret charity work she used to do? Accompanied by a pack of pressmen? Manipulative is right, and here's another thing; if William should die before having any offspring, then Harry becomes heir to the throne and there is no way he is Charlies son, so the bloodline will be lost. Hopefully that will spell the end of this royal family nonsense

I used to think the same as you but I think that it was nice for William and Harry to be bale to celebrate their mothers birthday in such a way and also that the money raised will go to charity.
She did things that other royals have not and this is why her life is celebrated so much.

It was about two sons wanting to honor their mother. I'm guessing their opinion of her is a bit different from yours. There is nothing wrong with her children showing her some respect, considering the media has been often unkind to her in life and death.

I was more upset when Bobby moore died than Princess Di,one of the greatest footballers in living history.I think she was a great person who done tremendous work for charity etc and she deserved the concert tribute yesterday.

does that make her worse than any other manipulative, self obsessed, narcisstic opportunist?

That lady had grace and style...and you got to admit she was a knockout(how could she marry that big eared sad looking puppy)

we either love or hate our celebrities...she was loved...why does that bother you sooo much.

show me one person that doesnt like some acknowledgement or praise from charity work...if they say they dont they are lying.

we have made icons out of some of the best and worst that history has thrown at us...why is she any less deserving?

Diana did a lot of charitable work behind closed doors. A lot of the things she did for charity were unknown until after her death.

When she went to Thorpe park with her sons she insisted on paying and on queueing for all the rides.

I believe that she was in love when she got married, and that she was deeply unhappy when she realised that Charles didn't love her. Maybe it did have an effect on her mental health, but I don't think any woman would be unaffected by that!

You are entitled to your opinion, but I think you are being a little harsh.
