I think the answer, I GOT, is y-4= -1 (x-8). If this is correct, how would you work it out?

I am assuming you mean slope-intercept form.

y - 4 = - 1(x - 8)
y = -x + 8 + 4
y = -x + 12

y-4= -1 (x-8). yeah it is correct but it is only one method of doing this problem.

just like slope form

y=mx+b
4=-1(8)+b
4=-8+b
4+8=b
b=12
then substitute for the values

y=-x+12 this is the equation in slope form

for checking substitute the value of x,y in equation
y=-x+12
4=-8+12
4=4 if the answer is equal then this means that the equation we derived is correct ^_^

You are correct. Working it out further you get
y = - x + 12
or
y = 12 - x (if you don't like minus signs going first)

y= -x+ b
4= - 8 +b
b= 12
y = -x +12, which is the same as what you have.
