I'm going to go against the tide and say a big fat NO to the spyware and firewall. Furthermore, I'm a big advocate of AVG's absolutely free anti virus program, a completely efficient and near flawless piece of tree software which I'd match against anything on the market. It is hugely popular in Europe.

Spyware is okay, but creates lots of inconveniences for you as do firewalls. I run both of them on one computer and have a full complement of these on another..........not a dime's worth of difference except that I can get things done much quicker on the computer which doesn't put me through the extra steps.

Both are, however, protected by AVG which hasn't allowed a single virus, worm, trojan through in 5 or more years of use.'

No one likes to think that they've been suckered but it's my feeling that we have all been sold a Bill Gates bill of goods.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the chief purveyor of viruses, worms and Trojans are ..........guess who???? What a colossal amount of money we spend.........who benefits?

Well it depends on what kind of websites you access...Firewall would most fo the time prevent you from logging onto specfic websites that might contain harmful content...on the other hand the anti spy software is similar t the windows password cache it would delete any passwords that you use to log on to any sites(Hotmail..yahoo..etc., )so that a hacker cannot use these credentials and misuse your account..I would stick with the antivirus alone that is the most helpful software we really need .

P.S:dont forget to update your antivirus time to time to have it ready eith the latest virus definitions.

antivirus and antispyware will catch different things. I would recommend keeping both. It's possible some of the anti-virus software will also catch spyware, but the anti-virus I use doesn't.

It is not necedssary, but not very smart to surf the web without it. Look at the questions in the Computer section of these files and you will find out what happens to people without.
