It is when someone has little or no self-esteem & perceives that everyone is better than him, &/or thinks that everyone agrees with that as well. Jealousy is an insecurity in people with low or no self-esteem. Jealousy could feed or be the result of the inferiority complex. The person would naturally be jealous of those that he felt were, &/or had better than him/her.

Inferiority complex is when you view yourself of not being capable of something... viewing your self as inferior to others who may , in reality, be equal to you in looks, personlaity, smarts, or anything, but internally you view yourself as less than par. With regard to jealousy, this feeling inferior to other people comes into play when you see someone else as competition who may have a good rapport with your girlfriend. You see that person or friend of your girlfriends as offering something you cannot offer, because you see yourself as inferior, like low self esteem, and you think that your girlfriend will see that too and will cheat on you because that other person has more to offer than you.

You feel as if you are not as good as other people. Yes, this definitely can lead to jealousy, violence, and general unhappiness.
Learn to like the person that you are. Make a list of your good qualities. Then make a list of your bad qualities. Learn to feel good about the good qualities you have, and one at a time try to change the bad qualities. In other words, take all that energy that you are directing into jealousy, and use it to improve yourself, and learning to like yourself. You will find life to be much happier when you have confidence in yourself. Other people will like you better too!
