Laykin sounds made up, so unless you've got a good story about its origin, I wouldn't use it. Other kids will ask her where her name came from and she'll feel more confident about it if her answer is something other than, "My mom made it up."
India Opal is the kind of name that seems prettier every time I look at it. Of the two, I'd go with that one.
Are you expecting a baby? (I just looked at your previous questions.)

If those are the only two choices you're considering, than India Opal is the better of the two. Laykin James sounds too much like a boys name.

Laykin James? Lakin James would be a nice guys name...
India Opal is going to be hard to get out. Seriously. I watch a little girl named India Zoe which is equally hard to get out. Try saying India Opal to yourself a few times aloud. Kind of a tongue twister. Not a good idea.

India Opal is alright but they just don't flow together too well, i mean i like them better with other names to go with them... and in my opinion and i dont mean any offense but since you ARE asking for opinions, i think Laykin James is about one of the most horrible names i've seen in a while....

I think both names are really adorable because of their unique-ness.
But, I think India Opal is the prettiest of the two.
I agree that Laykin sounds made up, but James alone would be a nice girls name.
Maybe you could consider Lianne ("Lie-ann" or "Lee-ann") James? I think it flows better than "Laykin", but it's your choice.

My friend's name is India and I like it a lot better. Laykin James does sound like a boy's name.

Laykin is horrible, for either sex. James is handsome and charming... FOR A BOY. On a girl it's just plain wrong.
India is a country.
Opal is very pretty however.

Sorry, but I don't care for either name. I do like James for a girl though, how about Larkin James, I think it is prettier and flows better. Different isn't always better, good luck!
