i was in the grocery store today and saw a couple walking together, she had a huge ugly black eye. my first thought was "what an a**hole!"
why did i do that? its so wrong to automatically assume he knocked the crap out of her. i know there has been several bumps and bruises on me that my husband had nothing to do with.

is our society so pathetic that we assume if a woman with an injury is automatically a victim of spousal abuse?
i am simply ashamed of myself and have vowed to be more open minded about this in the future

whats your thoughts?

well... in my opinion, u have just demonstrated human nature... we do tend to judge and give fast unthoughtful judgments sometimes... but the way u felt after, and the way u analyzed and changed your mind is exactly what separates good open-minded ppl from other ordinary or bad ones... the important thing is that u didn't rush and act upon it... so, don't be ashamed... u pulled this one off! just stay open minded...!

thanx... love u all

Judge not lest ye be judged. If you judge someone than you are more morally accountable than the person who you are judging. School your thoughts and emotions make this be your main priority in life until you are much better at it.
I think that what the media tryes to say is that men are evil and women are perfect and my heart is breaking because of this. Sometimes I start to believe this and I become a hermit and don't get out of the house much.

It's true, that it's wrong. my mom had a black eye and everyone thought my dad did it (the pycho neighbor did it) I felt so bad for my dad, and people know he's not mean enough (or strong enough) to do something like that. People just assume women take stuff like that from men, and in reality, if he had hit her, he would also have a black eye.

Yes it is wrong to assume that but there are several cases when the woman is the victim of domestic abuse. Even though you don't know what happened to that woman, he could've knocked the crap out of her.

It's not wrong of you to think that, I'm sure a lot of people would have assumed that right away, but sometimes it happens other ways

It's strange you thought that, maybe you thought the guy looked creepy or something. She could have fallen down stairs or knocked against something.

As a former Police Officer, I could almost guarantee it came from him, statistics don't lie. "profiling" created itself through repetition of occurance.

I think it's better that we actually think that thought first...it means we are more aware of the issue than we were in the past.

well..uhm if i were in your place.. i would certainly have assumed that he did do it... 'cos it is so possible.. yeah, its wrong to judge people but.. can you help it? there are so many psychos out there now... and sometimes women do not really tell if their partner did do it...

Why do you jump to that conclusion, maybe it's not society that's wrong, just your presumptuous mind.
