I think it's just a need people have to connect with one another. People feel small in this great big universe and need to feel like they are apart of somthing greater. Conversation exists to improve human life both on a physical level like the development of technology through shared ideas, and on the physcological level by giving people comfort in knowing they are not alone...Plus it's a pretty good tool for fighting off boredom, and without conversation sex really would be just for making babies. It has many purposes really.

converse to discuss topic or past time. To communicate is to get your point across or get info.

For me, for example with Yahoo! answers it is a way of communication. It's allotting for other view points and voicing my own. Giving and receiving feedback to give or receive information and opinions that are either my own or not. It's interesting to me some of people's views and I also genuinely respect those who truly come to certain places to seek out answers to questions that they haven't been able to offline.

Hmm, to help the person your talking to understand how you feel. Because no one really wants to keep all their thoughts to themselves =]
Nice topic!
