i'll tell you what my mind is like cuz im a teen:
optimistic,
pessimistic,
clever,
niave,
im still so uneducated, yet somehow smarter than my parents when it comes to school work ;-),
im scared to death of the future, but theres a flame of hope in me that burn with the knowledge that i can be anything i set my mind to, i AM the future, and i will be great.
sometimes i dont feel so great
sometimes i feel fat
sometimes i feel beautiful, and other times ugly
i love my family more than life itself, even tho im usually "too busy" to show it, or too stubborn, or whatever the case may be.
my friends come and go, but in highschool, i think i'll hang on to a few of these friends for a while.
my friends do drugs sometimes. this is quite normal and doesnt phase me....thats a lie... i worry about some of them and drugs, sometimes i feel like they get to the point where its almost a problem, but we always pull them back....well almost always. :(
my friends have sex all the time, often times unprotected, i tell them the dangers of this, and ask them if they are prepared to take care of a child, they say yes, but i know as well as they know, that they arent ready for any such thing. but hey "it'll never happen to me" right? ha ha.
i laugh at stupid and immature things, becuase they are funny
i do stupid and immature things, because they are funny.
i like laughing, its a good escape
im on the internet constantly, it is my lifeline lol, it helps me feel connected to my friends, and at this age its all about feeling "connected"
i fear growing up very much. i have such high hopes for myself, what if i dont become everything ive always dreamed of? but then i remind myself that i can just start over again. but then i remind myself that its not so easy to "start over" when you've got bills and kids with mouths to feed.
mostly im just reeeeaaallllyyyyyy confused
but im prepared to sit back and enjoy the ride to adulthood, because thats when the real sh!t hits the fan

After a period of insanity from puberty, around 12 to 18 +/- there remains a period of disconnect. That is where the part of the brain that does things by impulse or reaction and the part of the brain that comprehends cause and effect are disconnected or 'not connected'. This connection occurs about the time the wisdom teeth come in (about 26-28 years of age). The old saying 'there would be no wars if it were not for 18 year olds' has some truth in it. Basically it is a mind that is bent on satisfying every urge that presents itself. There are a few exceptions. The ones who believe their elders, or who have been shocked by accidents of others, for instance, and will follow a path of 'norrmalcy' toward a goal of significance. Frequently the first born can do this.
Then you can grit your teeth when they, in their 20's, come back and say, "Gee, Dad, you were right".

Teen Aged mind is no different from the other " ....aged " minds. It is as curious as the other minds , be it a child`s mind or an elderly mind. Curiosity is the common driving force.

A child`s mind wants to experiment with things that it can reach physically. A little extension is its ability to reach its want through the parents. Its limited exposure does not allow much flexibility.

An elder`s mind is also curious to know many things. But the long years of experience through life..... sex , love , money , relationship..... makes them seek things that have not been seen.

The teens ...... they are just out of kid stage and they see a lot of changes in their body and mind..Their new found freedom makes them try taking decisions , right or wrong. Hanving been under the mother`s care all these years they want to defy parents to assert their freedom. They have energy. They have power. They are fearless and they want to experiment.

Worst of all they fall prey to peer pressure . this makes them go rechless many times. Sex. drugs. Stealing. Confrontation. speeding and defying the law.... Anything they are thrilled.

But this is a passing phenomena . From 18 years of age to 28 years of age it is just a matter of 3650 days or 87600 hours. Just hours.

To some, it is all about sex, money, drugs, and loud parties.
For others, it's all about getting the grade, nailing that track meet, performing great in that next basketball tournament.

This is all rooted from the mind. During the period of adolescences, an average human's hormone levels shoots up like mad and goes wild. Some people casually call this "raging hormones," because of how much "drama" that goes on around the area during this age.

The human starts to discover things: "Hey, this thing isn't only used for peeing.. it's used for.."

It also learns to adapt to situations: "Dad, I'm not listening to you anymore. Punishment is only a concept, and shouldn't be allowed in our society."

At first, they may seem very immature, and some may miss the "old days of Power Rangers and Looney Toons."

But, as the adolescent grows more and more, they begin to adapt to modern concepts. They suddenly understand why their dad yells at the people because their gas prices were $.01 higher. They understand the concept of love, and don't just believe it's a "tingly feeling" anymore.

Their bodies undergo a growth spurt. They are no longer childs. They are soon to be adults, learning all they can, and achieving so much, only to bring them so many steps closer to realizing their dreams.

However, adolescence does has its ups and downs. Many teens experience the concept of Depression, and it's root cause mainly being the concept of "Being turned down." They support each other in many ways throughout the pain and misery, and somehow they seem to make it. They always seem to shut out their parents, because they believe that "they don't understand anymore," only because the parent is trying to help and think that they are in danger.

Girls and boys begin to experience the downsides of their gender.

The girls seem to look at their period in disgust, wishing it would never happen, thinking about how the boys are so lucky.

The boys look at themselves, and wonder: "Why can't I do this, why can't I do that? I'm such a failure. Everyone says so." They have mood swings but never notice it. They also long for many things they can't have, and look at the girls, wondering how they keep themselves so happy, thinking about how they're so lucky to be treated so well.

This cycle of "Peer pressure" develops along the adolescent's way. Their old friends seem to dislike them now because they're "uncool" for not trying the coolest thing in school: drugs. The teen does not realize this at first, and may try it. The old ones come in, and take them away from it, and see to it that they see the light. The teen then thinks: "Man, what have I been doing.. I'm such a wreck."

However, as they begin to mature and leave the adolescent period, their hormones stabilize, and they are no longer teens, no longer children: now they are adults.

Sorry, I went off topic, but hey, I spent time on this :D

First off let me tell that I'm now 23 years old. But when I was 16 I was a depressed, black clothes wearing, self mutalation, drinking every weekend, hung out with the stoners, but hey I was still a virgin, well for a little while. Most of these people say that it's all about sex, alcohol and drugs. Ok, I had sex but it wasn't an everyday thing. I've only had sex with 2 people and one of them is my husband now. I did drink every weekend, only because I lived in a small town with nothing to do and we lived by the river. But I only went because my older brothers went. And as for drugs, never did them in high school. I smoked weed, but only to try it out. Haven't done it since. I would also like to say that one of my best friends to this day hasn't smoked weed. I don't know why I was depressed and cut myself. I have low self esteem and I still do, but I haven't cut myself in a really long time. Teenagers will either follow the flock or make their own rules. Just because most teens are all about drinking, which I guess they do this because it's one way to have fun and express themselves. But eventually I think they'll grow out of it.

First, let me say, this is like saying, "explain what makes up the world", but I think this sentence sums up the very high majority of people at one time or another.

Generally insecure with a fiery inability to admit such.

Humans inherently become insecure as they age, but when you're a teenager, and are discovering how insecure you actually are, you start to realize that insecurity is not a favorable trait to have, so you try to hide it, in your own little way, until you either are denying it, or have convinced yourself that you are not. This shield that you've created is fragile, however, and you have to maintain it well. Those who thrive in HS and college have done that. Those who haven't, generally have not.

Crazy.

That word could explode and show you thousands of things.
AND a lot of teenagers minds aren't as bad as you think. Although everyone has us fooled that all teens ever think about and do are drugs, alchohal, sex, and disobeying. But some actually care about their lives and don't day dream about that stuff. Not all the time anwyays.

I don't think that you understand that you are asking to read a 596488 page report! I am one of the few people that could actually explain this to you but i am not sure that you would comprehend what it is that i am trying to relate. Is there a certain circumstance or situation of a teenage person that you are asking about?

Confused of everything that goes around them
Oblivious to the fact what is about to happen
Unforgiven because of what has just happened to them
Wild because they die to be like everyone else
Sex because they find it as a get way path
Dreams because of the hope and aspiration they want

I will explain using MY experience as a teen.
The teenage mind is frustrated, horny, confused, lonely, excitable, horny, gullible, open, closed, idealistic, horny, crowded. It is not called teenage angst without good reason. It is the time when a person is really discovering who they really are and where they want to fit in as they advance in life.
