Tonsillectomy is a minor surgery usually done on children. I had mine done when I was an adult. So I had a more difficult time recovering. As it was my very first surgery, i had the same worries and trepidations like yours.
However, it's quite safe. Tonsillectomy is usually performed under general anesthesia.
I'm going to dwell now on the different aspects of anesthesia.I think this is your main concern by stating that you might not wake up.
Go to the site below for more explicit and detailed explanations -so your unfounded fears and anxieties will be allayed. You'll find the site to be very informative and helpful.

There is close to 0% chance that you won't wake up. That means that 99.9999% DO wake up and hopefully live long productive lives.
Cheer up and enjoy being a human in a not-always-perfect human body. It's better than becoming an angel just yet!

hello there
really there nothing to worrier about i used to have really bad tonsillitis all the time and when i was 6 years old they took me to hospital to have then removed, i cant really remember much about going to the theater as the pre med made me forget what was happening and i felt really happy. Then when i woke up my mam and dad were right next to me, and the best bit was i had loads of ice cream, the next day i was home. now i am 28 years old. I f your still really worried talk to your mam or dad, or if your to embarrassed tell the nurse who will look after you and she will be really nice and explain everything to you.

Slim to none. You will be put through some tests to make sure everything is OK before surgery. If you are that scared talk to the nurses and Dr.s they will help you through it. Good luck.

all surgeries have hazards, talk your concerns including your wellbeing practitioner, get his data on placed up operation issues. I had LASIK in 2007 and might do it lower back, i replaced right into an excellent sissy approximately it yet did my analyze and replaced into fairly chuffed with my wellbeing practitioner's document card.
