I had the audiobook version for both and listened to them while traveling cross country to visit relatives.

It passed the time, and there are some good plots and some interesting characters. Overall though, its just a time waster, I don't feel the books "enriched" me at all.

I liked the dragon saphira, but honestly Eragon is a total whiner, and through many of the chapters I wanted to bi%ch slap him.

Also the author totally avoided what could have been a very interesting but taboo topic. Eragon and Saphira have a mental "bond" but any notion of a romantic connection are only fainly hinted at. Disapointing. That would have been interesting reading.

I have learn Twilight, Eragon and Eldest. I cherished all 3! My favourite individual in Twilight used to be both Edward or Bella. I would by no means select among the too. Edward used to be very wonderful, courageous , romantic, and enthralling. Bella used to be a clutz that come what may attracted all matters dangerous to her which I can sort of relate to in some way. Bella used to be additionally an overly sort and specific woman. Eragon and Eldest had nice plots. For a fifteen yr historical budding younger writer Christopher Paolini used to be now not just a talented writer however painted graphics in my brain. The plot used to be gripping... from time to time terrifying. full of motion and delusion. Love the query! All the quality!

I liked Eldest better than Eragon, but neither of them were fantastic. It's hard for me to read a book when I know EXACTLY what is going to happen. I mean, if you've seen Star Wars you know what the plot is going to be. Eldest seemed to be a little more mature and deviate from what I expected (but only slightly). I could tell that he was improving as a writer and a creative thinker as he worked.

However, there was something about the characters that made me want to know more and find out how their story ends. I give Paolini credit for doing that well!

People in here are rough.
I did think that Eldest was better written than Eragon but for young writer as is Paolini, he has a gift that will only get better in time. I don't agree that he copied any writer but its a common idea amongst Fantasy writers. Dragons have always mystified people. I am really looking forward to the third book.

Actually I do not like them at all. They are cheap knock-offs of Anne Mc Caffrey's magnificent Pern series with a large helping of Star Wars mixed in. Nothing original about them in the least. If you want to read wonderful books about dragons, read the ones Eragon and Eldest were copied from - the Pern books. Pax - C

And my 6 year old great niece said the movie sucked.

Craptastic - what a wonderful word - may I borrow that?? I love it !!!

I read Eragon, and I thought it was craptastic. If it hadn't been written by a teenager, it would have never been published. But on the flipside of my argument, I know a ton of people that enjoyed them. I just wasn't one of them. So what I am saying I guess, is read them, what would it really hurt. SO you might read a bad book or two. Worse things out there.

***Feel free to use it anytime.. especially when describing Showgirls.

I loved them, and so did my brothers. I thought is was a good book, but the movie wasn't very good at all. It was more like a summary of the book then an actual telling of the story. I can't wait for the 3rd book to come out!

i read them and they were pretty good. but nothing compared to Harry Potter. you do have to admit....sorry. and you also have to keep in mind that the Harry Potter fans are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Book 7 and are just looking for a good way to spend their time without exploding.......it takes a lot of effort to not explode....
