It's optional. My mother has been divorced for over 20 years and she still uses my father's last name.

For the children's sake if you have any at home, I would keep the same surname as them, because then they will want to know why you are suddenly become *********** instead of the name they have. I have kept my past married name also because of all the bloody paper work and changing alot of it back into your maiden name. So the choice is yours. Cheers and good luck.

You don't have to...but it sure is a wonderful feeling. I wasn't planning on changing mine, thought I'd keep his name so as to be the same as the children...then he told me that I didn't deserve to have his name and that he wanted me to change my name back to my maiden name.
I did take back my birth name and it's wonderful. Even when I remarried...I kept my maiden name!

Not unless they want to.
I did the first time I was divorced, because I had no children and was married about 2 years..
I did not the 2nd time because I had children and had bee married 15 years.
It is the woman's choice.

Optional. A lot of times, if the woman has children, she keeps her married name to be the same as the kids' name.

For an "annulment", I guess. The concept of going backwards just doesn't make sense, especially in a society that is obsessed with moving forward at a break-neck pace.

No, most women have children. So they keep their ex-husband last name until they marry again.

No they do not have to change their names back. It is an option if they wish it.
