No. I believe we are given life and have to make our own purpose. Ingrained into our being is a will to live and instincts. Then there is the whole Nature vs. Nurture thing. We should live because we were made, because we are. The end. Sorry, I don't understand why so many people in the philosophy section in Answers question this.

If this isn't so, we should live to create a purpose for ourselves.
Some will die, some will live long lives, some will suffer.
And regardless of whether or not we personally believe that a God gave us our purpose, regardless of whether we believe we even have a "purpose," we will live our lives, follow our paths, and LIFE will happen to us. Regardless.
If I chose not to believe that there is a God who defined a path for me, I will still walk through life and make choices every day. If I am right in my belief, then I will walk my forked path how I will, and feel good for it. If I am wrong in my belief, and there is a path destined for me from a God, then am I not still following the path simply by walking at all? If God is omniscient and omnipotent, all paths are paths God would have us take. Free will has no meaning if I don't have the choice of not believing. If you believe that GOD gave you free will, then you have already made your choice.

answering last part of your question:
If this wasn't so, why should we live?
Well, a lot of animal species don't have much purpose, but you don't see them just dying because they don't. I think this part of your question is a little flawed.
I believe we do have a purpose. And i also believe that each persons purpose in life is as unique and individual as our genetic makeup. Your purpose in life, may be different than mine. What we want from our time on earth may differ.
What is my purpose? To create. I am an artist, it is my existence to create. I am without purpose if I am unable to express ideas, and bring forth new things.
What is your purpose?

Questions like these are so troublesome, because my beliefs are hard to voice.
"Why should we live"? Are you serious? We should live because we have life. I am not a biblical philosopher, so I'm not going to get into the Divine Being thing, but I will say that if whoever created us, created us with a significant purpose - a path they have to walk, or a road they have to follow - or created someone just to feel pain, someone just to feel sorrow.....If someone was born, just to die....Then the universe is in very, very bad hands.
I like to think we're free to make our own choices - to break away from whatever fate binds us to.
Even if we aren't - I will.

While I don't agree with your commentary, I 'm sure we have a purpose. We just don't know and will never know what it is. It may be to have progeny or just to touch another life, however indirect or distantly it may be. We all share the same condition and as such, we all influence each other to some degree.

I don't believe our "destiny" is predetermined, if that is what you are asking. I believe we decide our purpose as we stroll through life. I would hate to think some are here to suffer but I do believe some are put here to be a victim!

I have a purpose it life or I wouldn't be here. One can only guess what their purpose in life is. Not up to us to decide. Only God knows what it is. I can guess mine but I may be wrong.

there is no purpose for any of us. it is all chance and there is no fate.
heres the big one;
everything is your fault. you control everything that happens to you. its all a matter of what it is you want and applying yourself to get it.
