It was classified as adultery not long ago by laws of Asian nations. A new husband can "return" the bride to her family if she was not a virgin (the groom not being the man who did the honor).

Now, western influences have found 30+% young people in their 20s have prior sex experience before marriage. There is no more law against premarital sex. Maybe some conservative cultures in Asia still practice that.

"Prevention is better than cure", heard of it? Unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases, AIDS, Jilted feelings, irresponsible sexual mates, being an unwed mother who eventually brings shame to herself and her family... all these would tell you that it is unwise and dangerous to have sex before marriage.
