what are some cool crafty ways to use these. there are probably around 1000.

I take felt and cut circles that are big enough to cover the cap, using a needle and thread - make a running stitch around the edge of the circle and draw it up to the underside of the cap, and knot it off. Make about 19 of these. Line them up 3 in one row, 4 in the next row, 5 in the next row, and then 4 and then 3. Sew these together on the backside.
I usually use purple felt for the caps, or red felt for the caps. Then I take green felt and hot glue it to the back of the caps. When I cut out the green felt, I cut around the edges of the caps, and include a stem, to make the project look like a bunch of grapes or even a bunch of cherries.
these make great hot pads that last for years. I'm using one that I made in the early 70's and it's still going great.

I would arrange them on a canvas and determine something I wanted to paint. After securing the bottle caps to the canvas, I would paint them. If I were happy with the results I'd enter it into a local art contest with a cutsey name like "bottoms up" or "open up" or "toppers"....Just an idea.
