Yeah, but who wants to live for ever and remember all the mistakes that they have ever made. You said immortality, but being immortal does not make one infallible. Do you know what kind of toll being immortal takes on your conscience? You don't want to know.
Just imagine all the people that you loved and imagine seeing them die because you outlive them. You would probably have a nervous breakdown for a few centuries and spend even longer than that trying to make up for all the bad karma you may have accumulated.
You can be immortal and never die, but that doesn't inherently include eternal youth. You could live forever and just wither up into a pile of sentient dust without any physical functions. That would be redundant because the mind is eternal even if the brain is not.
For some reason I don't think you can obtain Immortality, but it may have to be bestowed upon you. To want Immortality is to fear the future due to it's uncertainty. It's funny because immortality forces one to see the future. More than just the immediate future, but also the far-off future.
Believe it or not I think if someone granted you immortality, it would only be to make you appreciate your mortality that much more. With Immortality comes responsibility on a larger scale. To be mortal, one has had a burden lifted from them. The longer you live, the further you must carry your karmic burden. Death itself, as a price to pay, must surely alleviate SOME of our karmic debt.
To not die makes one 100% liable for everything that they have ever done. Remembering your whole life more than 120 years has got to be nerve wrecking.
One may WANT immortality, but is immortality what they NEED? Who knows, but be careful of what you ask for because you just may get it.
Guess what the immortals are asking? They are asking if mortality is obtainable. WOW!!
Peace.

Yes. But it depends on what you mean by 'immortality"? Of the body? Not likely. even if you lived 500 years , that's STILL not "immortality". But it is quite possible to withdraw from physicality and live in eternity; many spiritual traditions assert this, and there is certainly no reason why this should not be true. The method is described at some length in the Bhagavad-Gita.

Dearest bttwt,
Yes, but to be Immortal is a curse and not a blessing. To be a human immortal means you are damned to the earth in chains. Man isn't meant to be immortal and to attain it can only be done through the darkest arts. It is a trade of soul for something you really don't want.

Immortality is not obtainable, it is a reality. What FORM you live it in and whether you enjoy it or not is the question. Immortality of this current body - why would I want it? I'm looking forward to my next Zuit Suit!

If the Christians are correct, resurrection and immortality will be given to everyone. It's a promise.

Not without some major genetic re-engineering. Since immortality is not essential to evolutionary success, but has definite costs, organisms as such are mortal.

You are already immortal, for in this universe, nothing is created and everything changes.
But, if you want physical immortality as you are now, then no.
As for the rest, ask God, but he doesn't return his calls lately.
