People don't want to hurt other peoples' feelings, which is of course based on more unassertiveness with shy/upset people. In summary, people are stupid.

You really are a unique person. If I were in your place I would have rather blamed myself that the one who excused himself/ herself out. I would reassess myself and try to find out why people like to avoid my company. It may also be that the person had some other pressing personal engagements which he/she did not want to confide you in and so gave this lame excuse. Well that is his/her personal life and one should not read too much in it. It may perhas also be that the true reason may have been unpalatable to you Wisdom says it is all right that we should tell the truth but we should also say something which is pleasant to the person addressed. It enjoins that if the truth , even if it is god's own truth, if the person talked to does not approve of it should not be said. So in edxcusing himself/herself out the friend did not commit a sacrilege.Do not find fault with him/her standing on a high pedestal.

Hi Magicalalura,
Because, if some people had to face the truth, they might have to change their evil ways.....
>>>
Because, somewhere deep inside they may not be ready for it.... It's like that saying : "Be careful what you wish for".....
Telling someone the truth, doesn't excuse telling them in a destructive or hurtful manner... Usually, the way the truth is delivered.. dictates the person's response to a large degree....
>>>>>>>
Thanks, for the question! :)
My regards!
All the best!
Take care!

Maybe they had something embarrassing to hide, so that person made a less embarrassing excuse, without revealing the truth behind their motive. Hey I'll go out with you babe!

I know!! More people need to be a little more outspoken and just say "I'm really sorry but I don't want to go out with you" simple as that, no excuses, no ands, ifs or buts about it, just done!

People are terrified of offending other people. It's easier to lie and not hurt someone than to cause someone pain.
