Here's a few. They're mostly old, because, well, I'm old: Spirit in the Sky: Norman Greenbaum Are You Ready?: Pacific Gas & Electric Presence of the Lord: Blind Faith People Get Ready: Impressions (and covered by lots of people since, notably Jeff Beck and Rod Stewart) Run on for a Long Time: Moby I'll Take You There: Staples Singers That's the Way God Planned It: Billy Preston Jerusalem: Emerson Lake and Palmer God, Love, and Rock & Roll: Teagarden & Van Winkle (can't remember if this one had a Christian message or not - but a great title!) Wade in the Water: Ramsey Lewis His Eye is on the Sparrow: Lauryn Hill Live With Jesus: Wynonna Judd Go Rest High on that Mountain: Vince Gill Mary Don't You Weep: Aretha Franklin Kyrie Eleison: Mr. Mister Ya Mo Be There: Michael McDonald / James Ingram Jesus Is Love: The Commodores (our Gospel choir just did this one Sunday!) Lots of pop stars have done Christmas albums, of course, and they'll usually mix a few Christian carols in with the songs about Santa, but one album of note is Kathy Mattea's Good News, which skipped the usual reindeer/ sleigh/ figgy pudding stuff and gave some really heartfelt Christian music instead. This was the album that brought "Mary Did You Know" to the world, but the whole album is excellent, particularly her version of the old shape note hymn "Brightest and Best". And there were a few pop artists on Quincy Jones's The Messiah: A Soulful Celebration who weren't known for doing Christian music, particularly Stevie Wonder, but more than that, if I'm remembering right. I think he did "Oh Thou that Tellest Good Tidings to Zion", but I'm not sure. And Van Morrison had one, but I can't remember the title. The local Christian station used to play it sometimes, but some of the hosts refused because of Morrison's new-agey beliefs. Hope this helps. Jay

My favorite Contemporary Christian bands are Broomtree and Small town Poets. They write their own songs, not just revamp hymns.
