I hate it when people bend covers of paperbacks back, I can never bring myself to fold corners, and I keep them in the best condition I can. Anyone else like that? Please share!

I would also like to mentiont that they also get put into my purse a certain way and have to stay in as good a condition they came in, either new or second had resale. The only damage that they are allowed to get are spinal creases.

I drive everyone in my family insane by warning them to be incredibly careful with the books I loan. I swear, it must be a disease, or something. It just kills me to see someone hauling around totally chewed-up copies of books that they just haven't bothered to care for. I collect books, and I love to keep them as pristine and nice as I possibly can...I totally can connect with how you feel!
Next time I warn my sister not to bend a dust jacket or muss the corners, I'd better watch my neck... ;)

I agree with you. I like books and reading so I try to treat books with care. I use a book mark. I don't fold books back, nor turn down the corners of pages, nor write in books. If I take a book to read on a plane or waiting for an appointment then I might use a post-it for a bookmark so it stays in place.

I know a few people like that, but I am very lenient with my books! They get torn up. I always doggie ear them and sometimes underline them (if for school) and they get wet because I read them by the pool. Therefore, I think the books I read in the summer are in worse conditions than the ones I read in the winter.
You'd hate me - or my books at least.

YES!
I am very picky...but sometimes...all the time...when I have paperbacks I read them too much and they get ruined...especially if I have a paperback Harry Potter. I read it too much and carry it everywhere with me and it shows...=b But I hate it. So I tend to buy hard back books now.
I don't fold corners either. Gosh darn it, get off your butt and get a book mark. ;)
Haha.

I'm the same way with doggy-eared pages and bent bindings! Lol, occasionally, if it's a book that I'm particularly fond of, I'll buy it and then check it out at the library and read the library's copy so there is nooooo chance of my book getting damaged at all. =)
Books are so utterly vulnerable.
Poor guys.

It's so relieving to know I'm not the only one, lol =) Particularly if I own the book, I HAVE to keep it in practically perfect condition. If it's from the library and already kind of old, I don't mind as much, but if it's new I like to keep it like that.

I feel the same way. I do not lend books out anymore either. People don't like to return them.

I'm totally OCD about that. If someone bends my cover back, or dog ears my pages, I flip! Even worse, is when people start throwing books. It drives me mad!!!

I know what you mean. I can't have any bends in the books. It makes me soooo mad when my friends abuse a good book.
