If drugs are suspected, and there are good reasons to suspect, then chances are yes, there are drugs in an individual's system who tests positive. There are other substances that are legal and used quite regularly that can inspire a false positive. But the likliness of a false positive in someone who exhibits other signs of drug use, are slim.
As far as the home tests, I have personally used one years ago and it gave me a false negative. I later that day took a more accurate test and it was positive. I also know someone very well who admitted to using drugs and tested negative on a home test. I do not think they are as accurate as they claim. But I have seen and heard of more false negatives than I have of false positives.

yes generally speaking the home kits work pretty well. they even have ones that test for just specfic drugs like walgreens has a test that tests just for weed. and so on and so on. and if you test positive it like 90% accurate. if you are worried about passing a test you should go to a health food store and look for this stuff called sonne No. 7 is this liquid supplment that you can take that flushes your body of toxins. you take a spoonful for every 50lbs and drink plenty of water and it really cleans you out ive used it about 10 times and never failed a test. you just have to not smoke for about a day or two before the test. but i will say i think it depends on how good your metabolism is on how well it will work. also if you got to www.spectrumlabs.com they have all kinds of products that can mask any drug. hope this helps dyll

It means there is something suspicious in their system. Prescribed drugs, cold and flu medication, poppy seeds, some alcohol, nicotine patches, and insulin shots can skew the results.
Most at-home tests do work but they're not always reliable.

Yes it does, and they are pretty accurate, especially if they used hair to test. I don't know about the home tests.
