They don't. That was done away with a LOONG time ago.

If a person WANTS to swear on a bible, one will be provided.

They also don't "swear to God" anymore either, unless they want to.

It was originally intentended to appeal to your moral sensablities as a cristian, catholic, ect , & that you were in fact " telling the truth" with your testimony & have sworn to do so before God. What I found odd about it was that the church & state are suppossed to be seprate by the constitution. But i dont belive they do this anymore, like with the 10 commandments being displayed.

Obviously you have never been in court. They don't have you swear on a Bible anymore. You can if you want to, but you'd best bring your own Bible.

That's a stupid custom that should be abolished. People should swear on the Constitution.

I testified in a civil suit and I thought, Why should they make me swear on a book I think is nothing but a pack of primitive lies?

Politicians are hypocrites that is why. They use agendas to drive out all that is good and ethical. I am sure the criminals, hypocrites and other assorted liberal whores will work on that next--but in good time they too will have to meet their Maker (even if they deny or fail to believe) and that will be a sad ending for them for they perish for lack of knowledge, belief and faith.
