Except for a little bit of sparkler-singe on the fingertips, I've not gotten injured personally. I know a kid who blew his pinkie finger off with a firework, though. It's been since high school, so I've forgotten the specifics if I ever knew them. They're all dangerous if mishandled, and one of the dumbest things you can do is combine children, polyester clothing and explosives. Make sure they're wearing cotton, unless you WANT to turn your kid into a roman candle.

Not gonna imitate Joe Dirt this year, but one year I almost burned down the McDonald's I was working at.
My friends had this awesome idea of lighting and tossing one of those ground-bloom things up in the air. Well, it went up, then came down, bounced into some dry shrubs next to the building, and proceeded to light everything up real quick.
I wouldn't recommend it.
