As a baseball fan, I am totally curious as to why the Devil Rays remain in the Tampa area. No one comes to the games and no one seems to care or even know about them. Every time I check box scores, they draw 10,000, 12,000, etc....I have never seen or heard of a good crowd there. If ever there was a case for a sports team to relocate, it is the Tampa Bay Devli Rays. Is there a logical reason why they continue playing there? (If a tree falls in the forest and there is no one there...)

I'm NOT from Florida, but I will say this; they are close to having a contending ball club. They have plenty of good young talent(even more so if Elijah Dukes can ever get his head screwed on straight), but the ownership is notoriously-er, thrifty. The only way that you can tell if this franchise has a future is to see what happens when they are in the heat of a pennant race(this may happen in a year or two, especially if ownership puts some more money out for payroll), or, better yet, makes the playoffs. Will attendance increase enough? Can the fan base grow enough? They at least have a dome; you need that if you're gonna play ball in Florida. As for relocation-I think the Marlins are gonna beat them out the door, and relocate to Las Vegas.

30-year lease on the Tropicana with fairly draconian escape terms.

"There are some things money can't buy" and getting out of that lease is one of them.

The team is ten years old, but the park is closer to 20. The cities built it (then called the Suncoast Dome) in hopes of luring the White Sox or Giants.

The devil Rays are stocked with youthful place gamers on the finest league roster (Lugo, Cantu, Huff, youthful, crawford, and Baldelli) and the minors (Upton and Dukes). in addition they extra a sparkling promising GM and supervisor. they're definitly transferring interior the final direction and basically might desire to function some youthful pitching to the equation. Their best situation is taking part in interior the comparable branch because of fact the Evil empire, the Sox, or maybe the without notice money prosperous blue jays. so that they do no longer face an trouble-free street to the international series. i might say the opportunities are against them attending to the international series this decade, however the outlook is a minimal of looking brighter for a metamorphosis.
