I couldn't believe that when I went to the IMDB board for this movie, it got a 7.4 I think that's pretty perverted! Am I alone in this? This movie makes women appear like objects and most of the jokes were vulgar and profane.

Who else would appreciate this movie except guys.

And most of the posts were from teenagers saying they want to loose their virginity at 14!! MY god! The world never fails to shock me!

We are going on a moral downhill and fast!!

"As far as 14-year-olds go, you can hardly blame the movie for that. It is rated R for a reason. It is not meant for kids. If you don't like kids seeing movies like this, then maybe you need to write a post about lousy parenting. No reason to take away the rest of our movies just because some dumb parents let their kids watch something not meant for them."

I don't think their parents let them watch this, its just that they get away with watching it without the parents knowing! If you were a parent, you'd know that! Or at least if you were my age or older, you should've known that because most teens these days are VERY sexual for the life of me!

"which brings me to this point. where have you been living these past years?"

Well, I lived in a bubble community (a very safe citiy) I can't give away too many clues, but partly, I know that alot of sex in the media's been going on, but I just try to shelter myself from it. At least TRIED. Now, I'm ready to come out of the "closet" and not be afraid to loose my virginity at this age. I'm old enough anyway...to know what's going on and safely too!

I thought it was disgusting. It was so vulgar that I couldn't make myself finish watching it. I'd rather walk on hot coals and broken glass then swim with sharks than watch that garbage again.

I loved it. I thought it was hilarious. Then again... I'm a guy. But here's the kicker: my wife loved it, too. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

That said, 14 year olds having sex is a real problem, but it is hardly the movies' fault. If you think that movies like 40-year-old Virgin not being made would stop teen sex, then you're pretty naive. Alas, the world never fails to shock me, either. But I've studied history for over a decade now, and I don't see any evidence that morality is sliding downhill. Truth is that vulgarity and sex and moral ethics have been battling each other since the beginning of civilization. Nothing new there.

Not saying you shouldn't be concerned!

i thought it was funny but not as funny as some people thought. but the whole point of the movie was to get the 40 year old laid. and if you think this movie makes women look like objects then why dont you try and watch a porno. and teenage boys always say they want to lose their virginity starting at the age of 13 sometimes earlier. some girls say it at 14 or 15.

which brings me to this point. where have you been living these past years? we live in a sexual world everything revolves around sex. shampoo commercials i remember 1 of them made it sound like a women was having a orgasm. every commercial break has atleast 3 commercials that has women in bikini's or their underwear.

Weird. I watched that movie today, for my 20th time (or so).

I thought it was a great movie. And that's life: guys treat women like objects but it's the same the other way around most of the time. Most girls aren't as innocent as you think they are. I bet a bunch of them date/marry for good looks and money. As for vulgarity and profanity, what did you expect? Just look at the name of the movie. Besides, if you spend some time with young people, you'll find that you'll hear a lot of vulgarity. It's real life: Women are treated as objects and the youth of today curse. We can't change that

And that's not even the message of the movie - to treat women like objects. The moral is kind of to wait for that special person to come along. Did you not see the last 10 minutes? Andy doesn't settle for stupid drunk chicks. He falls in love with a girl he really likes and married her and they don't just have sex. They make love.

Yeah, I agree. It sux. It wasn't funny. At best, it was juvenile. What happened to good, funny comedies that didn't have to revert to childlike behavior for a storyline. Whatever happened to smart comedies that used wordplay as a comedy tool. I thought it should be a story about a man with some serious mental issues. It turned out that he was just an idiot and nobody wanted to have sex with him. Hollywood, you want us to spend more money on films.....make better films!

My husband rented the movie and we watched it for 2and 1/2 minutes and I told him to take it back. Who wants to sit and watch a movie so stupid? I guess I had better things to do with my time. So I never seen the whole thing!

Okay, I like that movie. And I'm a girl! And second of all, it's a movie. It's not supposed to be taken seriously.
