I definitely find that the simpler I keep my life, the more peaceful it is. I'm not sure I "deprive" myself, but I try to live below my means rather than maxing out my credit cards and going into debt up to my ears for a bunch of stuff I don't need. (In my case, I guess "solitude" means the absence of creditors calling me !)

Seriously, I do think that keeping to a minimum of distracting "stuff" in your life helps you to appreciate the simpler, more important things.

I don't understand how being deprived has anything, even remotely, to do with solitude.

Does not possessing anything help you be alone? Maybe having nothing allows you to be alone & not want for something? You can be totally alone & not want for anything.

I do not like or enjoy being deprived but I have found solitude & enjoy it.
